MPC Celebrates 20 Years of Industry Collaboration

For 20 years, the Massachusetts Production Coalition has worked to strengthen the state’s film and media industry through advocacy, workforce development, professional education, and community building.

What began in 2005 as a coalition of local industry leaders advocating for a competitive film tax incentive has grown into a statewide organization serving thousands of filmmakers, crew members, businesses, educators, and students each year.

As part of our 20th anniversary celebration, we created a series of slides tracing MPC's history – from our founding members to major advocacy victories, the evolution of our workforce and educational programs, and images of some of the people and initiatives that have helped shape the organization over the past two decades.

The timeline reflects more than organizational milestones. It tells the story of an industry that has been built through collaboration: preserving and strengthening the Massachusetts Film Tax Credit, creating professional and workforce development opportunities, connecting professionals across every sector of production, and investing in the next generation of filmmakers and storytellers.

These milestones represent the contributions of countless volunteers, partners, sponsors, public officials, educators, and most of all members, who have given their time, expertise, and resources to strengthen this community.

As we look back on twenty years, we're equally excited about what's ahead. The work continues, and so does our commitment to ensuring Massachusetts remains a place where the film and media industry can grow, create, and thrive.
