Advocacy Updates
As you know we are working hard to remove of the "sunset" date of the state's film and television incentive program, currently set to expire in the end of 2022. Below is a summary of updates in this campaign.
We are supporting a House and Senate bill to become law that would remove the "sunset" date.
Through a tremendous outreach campaign, we achieved 114 co-sponsors to the House and Senate bills in the legislature. Demonstrating incredible support to continue the film and television incentive program.
Our bills received a public hearing by the Joint Committee on Revenue in June. For this occasion we also organized a State House Rally attended by hundreds of industry members to visit their legislators offices, tell their stories, and build support for the bills.
Over 4,000 grassroots email messages have been generated to legislators throughout this campaign to date. Terrific work!
We launched new landing pages on MPC's website for industry members to follow campaign updates, and an information section for legislators.
We released a new animated video outlining the economic impact of the incentive program to lawmakers.
Throughout the fall we will continue to distribute regular communications in the State House highlighting the local impact of the incentive and growth in our industry, as well as organize special meetings and set visits with legislators within their districts with local workers and business, among other events within and outside the State House.
There will be new calls to action as this legislative session continues and our campaign intensifies to educate lawmakers and encourage them to act. Please follow updates, learn about the legislative process, and watch for important calls to action on our Advocacy Center page.
Your support is needed to continue this important work. We hope you will consider making a contribution today to this campaign to Keep MA Film Jobs Alive!
