Industry Support Letter: MA Film Incentive Improvement

Over the past couple of years, MPC has been meeting with the Governor’s office and legislative leaders about ways to strengthen Massachusetts’ film and television incentive program and keep the Commonwealth competitive in a challenging production environment.

One improvement we are advocating for is eliminating the 12-month expenditure requirement in the current law. This restriction – requiring all production spending to occur within a single 12-month window – is more limiting than programs in competing states and can deter productions from choosing Massachusetts.

As the Legislature begins work on the state’s Economic Development Bill, this may present an opportunity to address the issue.

We are circulating a industry business sign-on letter to Governor Healey and Lt. Governor Driscoll in support of removing the 12-month restriction.

If you’re willing to add your company or organization in support, please sign the letter by Monday, March 9th.

Thank you for your continued support!
