MPC Higher Education Consortium presents Student Media Summit
October 28, 2022
Over 100 students from 12 Massachusetts colleges and universities gathered for MPC’s Student Media Summit hosted by Middlesex Community College in Lowell.
Presented for the first year post-pandemic, Student Media Summit is a daylong conference offering students an introduction to pathways in the field, a “crew up” networking lunch to find collaborators across institutions, and a “pitch fest” to present their work to win cash and rental certificate prizes to complete their films.
“The MPC Student Media Summit was an incredible opportunity for students to meet and learn from young professionals in a variety of fields within the film and television industries,” said Jennifer Bauer, chair of Communication, Art & Design at Middlesex Community College. “Having the opportunity to host the event at Middlesex Community College made the experience even more beneficial for my students as they learned how to help coordinate such a large event. We were thrilled to introduce our campus and program to students who wouldn’t normally think of our program when considering film and television degrees.”
This year’s Summit welcomed students from a diverse range of public and private institutions including: Bentley University, Boston University, Emerson College, Endicott College, Fitchburg State University, Lesley University, Massachusetts College of Art & Design, Middlesex Community College, Suffolk University, UMass Lowell, Tufts University, and Wheaton College.
