Ted Hope recently resigned as Co-Head of Movies at Amazon Studios where he oversaw the prestige movies produced, developed and acquired by the company for over five years. Hope’s 35-year career in the film business is defined by an innovative and inclusive approach, from a deep love of cinema. Whether helping to launch Amazon Studios and their commitment to theatrical releasing, or introducing new voices and approaches to audiences, Hope champions bold voices from the world over. Prior to joining Amazon, Hope produced over 70 films. Ted’s eye for directorial talent has helped launch the feature film careers of Ang Lee, Hal Hartley, Michel Gondry, Nicole Holofcener, and many others. Moderated by Caroline von Kuhn, Director of Catalyst at Sundance Institute.

Dawn Porter is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose work has appeared on HBO, PBS, Discovery, and Netflix among others. In 2020 during the pandemic, she released the acclaimed films John Lewis: Good Trouble, on the legacy of late Congressman John Lewis’ pivotal role in the Civil Rights movement and decades of political and social activism; and The Way I See It, about photojournalist Pete Souza, who served as Chief Official White House photographer for President Barack Obama. Moderated by Chloe Gbai, Director of IF/Then Shorts at Field of Vision.

Filmmaker Shalini Kantayya’s Coded Bias, premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. She directed for the National Geographic television series Breakthrough, Excecutive Produced by Ron Howard, broadcast globally in June 2017. Her debut, Catching the Sun, premiered at the LA Film Festival and was named a NY Times Critick’s Pick. Catching the Sun released globally on Netflix on Earth Day 2016 with Executive Producer Leonardo Di Caprio, and was nominated for the Environmental Media Association Award of the Best Documentary. Kantayya is a TED Fellow, a William J. Fullbright Scholar, and an Associate of the UC Berkley Graduate School of Journalism. Moderated by Laura Azevedo, Executive Director of Filmmakers Collaborative.
