Like all of us nowadays, Kim wears many hats – Director, Photographer, Creative Director and sometimes even Editor. She specializes in children and families, and is repped by Element Productions.
Kim’s recent work spans direction, photography and art direction for REI, YoBaby, Hasbro, local non-profits, and more. She shot and collaborated on the book, “We Garden Together”, which went on sale last year. Julia C Liu is a Providence based artist, director and Emmy nominated cinematographer seeking to promote diversity in front of and behind the lens. Her passion for visual storytelling started through her comics, evolving to filmmaking as a way to bring her illustrations to life. She strives for meaningful collaborations, opportunities for creativity and healthy work environments on all her projects. Her narrative directorial debut DRIVING WHILE BLACK MAGIC screened at Urbanworld, Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival, and the Montreal International Black Film Festival.
Liu is the Director of Photography for POWER directed by Yance Ford, the cinematographer for the Emmy award winning documentary STILL: A MICHAEL J. FOX MOVIE, and the Director of Photography and Executive Producer of the Netflix original WHITE HOT: THE RISE & FALL OF ABERCROMBIE & FITCH. A lover of travel, Kim's work abroad has given her a unique perspective enhancing her ability to connect with people across cultures and continents.
Recently, Kim has expanded her career into the world of features. She is currently directing a documentary about the wild and fun journey of a Boston couple who spent ten years turning a lighthouse into a vacation home. She also gained invaluable experience shadowing director Christine Luby on a MarVista Christmas Film and is now in development a Christmas project of her own.
