MPC Annual Message

MPC Annual Message

Thank you to our members and supporters for a great year!

MPC Members & Supporters,

The past year marked our first full post-pandemic year for in-person programs, and we are immensely grateful for the overwhelming support and enthusiasm from our members and the broader community. Your collective desire to gather, learn, connect, and grow together has truly been inspiring.

2023 brought tremendous challenges with major production disrupted due to economic uncertainties and strikes. And yet, our community stood resilient. Rather than succumbing to fragmentation, our members came together. MPC produced our largest amount of programming to date, offering 16 unique meetings, workshops, and events that generated over 1,700 admissions, hosting over 100 speakers and presenters throughout the year. At the same time our membership grew over 50% from pandemic lows, bringing many new faces to our inclusive community.

Crew members collaborated to plan workshops, filmmakers and producers led seminars, and we hosted numerous events supporting skills development and diversity among emerging industry members. We celebrated new film releases and engaged in discussions on virtual production and AI, among many other topics. It might sound cliché, but we kept our spirits up even when business was at a standstill.

If you haven't already, we encourage you to join MPC today to be part of a thriving community!

MPC Programs & Community

Some highlights from the year include..

  • Hosting 4 Member Meetings covering diverse topics and presentations, ranging from feature films like "American Fiction," "The Holdovers," and "Down With The King" to discussions on virtual production.

  • The introduction of a new Camera Bootcamp led by over 15 local members of the International Cinematographers Guild, IATSE Local 600. You can find a detailed recap on the ICG Live website.

  • The return of 2 new PA Workshops.

  • Co-presented of our 6th annual Student Film Showcase with Independent Film Festival Boston.

  • The success of our first Summer Social at Notch Brewing, attracting a huge turnout of filmmakers, crew, and local industry members to connect socially.

  • The presentation of our third annual Editors Bootcamp at GBH with an impressive lineup, now available to watch online!

  • Multiple seminars on independent filmmaking, creating pitch decks, sourcing music, working as an actor, and commercial bidding to support local film and media producers.

  • The privilege of hosting our 3rd annual Student Media Summit at Emerson College, featuring 14 participating schools. This event offered students a career session and pitch fest, providing them with opportunities to earn prizes to complete their next student films.

The realization of all these programs is made possible through the generous support of our Annual Sponsors. And we couldn’t do this work without the dedication of our members and broader creative community.

We are proud of these accomplishments and look forward to continuing our commitment to excellence in the coming year. Thank you for being an integral part of our vibrant and growing community.

Here's to a year filled with even more collaboration, learning, and success!
