Pre-Visualization for Directors: Bridging Creativity and Technology

Thursday, May 30th
National Boston

Drinks & Social: 6:00 - 7:00 pm / Panel Discussion: 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Join us for a special seminar on how the latest techniques and technologies are transforming the way directors conceptualize, communicate, and execute their creative visions. From traditional storyboarding to new digital methods, this seminar will delve into the fundamentals of pre-visualization (pre-vis) and its critical role in directing. With an emphasis on commercial and client commissioned work, the seminar will also provide useful information for directors, filmmakers, and producers creating a broad range of films and media.

Together we’ll explore how pre-vis helps directors plan everything from complex scenes and locations to visual effects-heavy shots. You’ll learn how pre-vis facilitates better communication and collaboration between directors and their producers and clients, as well as with cinematographers, production designers, and visual effects teams.

We’ll also discuss some of the latest software tools being used today, such as FrameForge, ShotPro, Miro, Frameset, Kive Midjourney, Pixelmator Pro, After Effects, Runway ML, and Pikalabs, along with Gen AI-enhanced creative tools. Directors will share their real-world experiences and expertise in utilizing these tools to enhance the directing and production process.
