Nominations Procedure and Eligibility
MPC Board Nominations
From January 11 through January 25, 2024, the Nominating Committee will accept names of potential member candidates to stand for election to serve on the MPC’s Board of Directors. Company and Individual MPC members in good standing may recommend a potential candidate and/or submit their own name for consideration for nomination.
Twenty-two candidates are elected for a two-year term commencing May 1, 2024. Voting for MPC's Board of Directors is conducted electronically by confidential ballot sent to voting members if there are more than 22 nominees.
Submissions for selection by the Nominating Committee must be received no later than January 25, 2024 via email to: boardnominations@massprodcoalition.org.
Board of Directors Responsibilities
MPC Board members are the fiduciaries who steer the organization to a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.
Each board member shall have one (1) vote, and are required to attend board meetings (approximately six per year), participate in a committee, and attend special meetings, conference calls, or electronic correspondence, as well as engage in active participation in MPC initiatives.
Members of the board should be prepared to make significant professional, financial, and in-kind contributions toward fulfilling the Massachusetts Production Coalition's goals and initiatives. Members of the board can meet these obligations by contributing professional services, expertise, and actively working to fundraise for the organization.
MPC's Board Responsibilities Policy is provided to nominees to ensure the guidelines and expectations are fully communicated.
Eligibility
Each member of the board shall be a Company or Individual Voting Member of the MPC, and shall possess or evidence sufficient skills, knowledge, and background in the media production industry – or within areas directly related to, or in service of. No person shall be denied service on the board by reason of race, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or religion.
Submitting a Nomination for Consideration
1) To submit the name of a potential candidate, email the Nominating Committee. Please provide the name of the potential nominee, their position or industry role, and business affiliation if applicable. Include contact information for the individual submitted, including both an email address and telephone number, as well as your full name and contact as the member placing a nomination.
2) To submit your own name for consideration, email your intent to the Nominating Committee. Your email should confirm your intent as follows: "I wish to submit my name as a candidate for nomination to the MPC Board of Directors. I agree that should I meet the eligibility criteria, and the Nominating Committee selects me as a candidate, my name will be placed on the ballot for vote by the members of Massachusetts Production Coalition. If elected, I agree to serve in compliance with the duties and terms of this office." Along with your name, please make sure to include your title, company (if applicable) or professional affiliation(s), and your contact information.
3) To expedite the nominations process, members submitting their own name for consideration are encouraged to submit a 100-word statement with their submission. This statement should identify your role in the industry, the contributions you feel that you would make as a member of the board, and/or a brief statement on the initiatives, goals, or activities you would like to see MPC undertake in the next two years.
Deadline
Submissions for review and selection by the Nominating Committee must be received by the end of January 25, 2024.
