Table Read: What They Left Us

Mosesian Center for the Arts
Drinks & Social: 6:00 - 6:45 pm / Table Read and Q&A: 6:45 - 9:10 pm

Presented with SAG-AFTRA New England

Join MPC and SAG-AFTRA New England for a special live table read of What They Left Us, an award-winning feature screenplay by Jodie Bentley and James Tabeek.

Set in New Bedford, Massachusetts and preparing to shoot this upcoming fall, What They Left Us is an emotionally rich and sharply observed story about family, caregiving, and the complicated relationships that shape us long into adulthood.

The evening will feature actors performing the screenplay live, offering a unique opportunity to experience the script before it heads into production. Co-Writers Jodie Bentley and James Tabeek will introduce the reading and participate in a Q&A conversation following the performance.

When their mother falls ill, twins Bridget and Brian return home to New Bedford to care for their declining parents, forcing them to confront old wounds, family dysfunction, and the lives they imagined for themselves. Blending honesty, humor, and emotional depth, What They Left Us explores grief, guilt, and growing up later in life than expected.

The screenplay earned a Best Feature Screenplay win at the Los Angeles Film Awards, along with praise from The Black List, which called it “a devastating read” that is “fiercely authentic.”
