Filmmaking for Social Impact

In Person at CIC Cambridge

Presented with Center for Independent Documentary, Filmmakers Collaborative and LEF Foundation.

Films have an incredible ability to enlighten and inform audiences, spark dialogues and inspire social change. In addition to making a compelling film and telling a great story – how non-fiction filmmakers reach audiences to make an impact requires a tremendous amount of planning, resources, and team building to execute an impactful engagement strategy.

Whether to inspire thought, raise awareness, or influence policy – each film has it’s own path to successful engagement. We’ll talk about impact strategies and outreach campaigns, where these come into play over the planning and life of the film; how they get funded, distribution, and resources that can help filmmakers achieve their goals of making an impact with their films.
