MPC Board Nomination Qualifications
DUTIES: The business and affairs of the MPC and the general policies to be followed by the MPC shall be the responsibility of the Board of Directors. Each Board Member shall have one (1) vote. Board members are required to attend all Board of Director’s meetings – currently scheduled at six (6) meetings per year, special meetings as called, conference calls and electronic correspondence, and to engage in active participation in the leadership of an MPC Committee or initiative.
Board members should be prepared to make a significant professional, financial, and/or in-kind contribution toward fulfilling the Coalition’s goals and initiatives. Board members can meet this obligation by contributing their expertise, time and services to Coalition activities, including fund-raising. Board members whose personal or corporate circumstances allow them to do so will also be expected to make donations to support the Coalition’s work.
ELIGIBILITY: Each member of the Board shall be a Full (Voting) Member of the MPC, and shall possess or evidence sufficient skills, knowledge, and/or background, in the media production industry or within areas directly related to or serving the industry. No person shall be denied membership on the Board of Directors by reason of race, creed, national origin, age, disability, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, or religion. Only members in good standing are eligible to be elected to and serve on the Board of Directors.
1) If you would like to submit a nomination for someone other than yourself, please simply REPLY to this email and indicate the name or names and related industry role/positions for up to two (2) individuals. It is also critically important that you include contact information for the individual(s) you’re nominating (preferably both an email address and a telephone number), as well as your own name as the MPC member submitting the nomination.
2) If you are nominating yourself for the Board, you may also simply REPLY to this email. Your email should confirm your intention to serve if elected and, if you wish, may include a short (100 words or less) statement, identifying your role/position in the industry, the contributions you feel you could make as a Board member and/or a brief comment on what initiatives, goals or activities you would like to see the MPC undertake in the next couple of years.
The formal statement of your candidacy and willingness to serve should follow a protocol similar to: ”I wish to submit my name as a candidate for nomination to the MPC Board of Directors. I agree that, should I meet the eligibility criteria, my name will be placed on the ballot for a vote by members of the MPC. If elected, I agree to serve per the duties and term of this office.” You would then include your name, position/company, contact info and, if you wish, the brief statement described above to accompany the nomination.
